Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property Associate to join its West Palm Beach office. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience in patent prosecution, with additional exposure to trademark matters. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on high-quality IP matters, particularly in the electromechanical and software domains, while also gaining experience in trademark clearance and enforcement.

Location:

• West Palm Beach, FL

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications, primarily in electromechanical and software-related technologies

• Conduct prior art searches and patentability analyses

• Support trademark clearance, including preparing and analyzing opinion letters

• Assist with trademark enforcement and related legal strategies

• Communicate directly with clients regarding invention disclosures, prosecution strategy, and branding concerns

• Collaborate with partners and other legal professionals in a team-oriented IP practice

Requirements:

• 2 to 5 years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably with exposure to trademark matters

• Prior work with applications in the electromechanical and software art units

• Experience in trademark clearance, opinions, and enforcement preferred

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple matters simultaneously

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Member of The Florida Bar, or willing to sit for the next Florida Bar Exam

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Strong technical background in:

• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills

• Ability to communicate complex IP concepts to clients
