Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled mid-level associate to join its Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Practice. This role offers the opportunity to work with an experienced team that handles high-profile regulatory, investigative, and advisory matters across a range of industries. The associate will support clients in addressing complex legal issues related to data protection, cybersecurity, consumer privacy, and artificial intelligence compliance. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, technically proficient, and capable of providing strategic legal guidance in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
Location:

Duties:
Advise clients on domestic and international data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA
Represent clients in investigations and enforcement actions brought by the FTC and state Attorneys General
Provide legal counsel on data collection, storage, and usage practices
Develop and review global compliance programs, privacy policies, and cybersecurity protocols
Assist in legal strategy and response to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents
Guide clients on AI governance and related regulatory concerns
Work with cross-functional teams to assess risk and ensure regulatory compliance across business operations
Requirements:
3–5 years of legal experience, with a focus on privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, or consumer protection
Experience working with technology companies or in government regulatory roles is preferred
Familiarity with FTC enforcement and policy regarding privacy and data security is strongly desired
Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters and deliver practical advice to clients
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Strong academic performance required
Certifications:
Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is a plus
Skills:
Deep understanding of data privacy and cybersecurity regulations and best practices
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Familiarity with computer programming, web technologies, network infrastructure, or database systems is advantageous
Excellent verbal communication and client management skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines
