Job Title: Trial Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm located in Columbia, SC, is seeking a litigation-focused Associate Trial Attorney to join its expanding practice through a recruitment partnership. This position offers the opportunity to engage in complex litigation involving financial misconduct and indexed universal life (IUL) recovery disputes. The selected candidate will collaborate with experienced litigators on case strategy, manage key litigation documents, and support client-facing initiatives. This role may be performed remotely or in a hybrid setup, depending on the candidate's location and preference.
Duties:
Prepare pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and other court filings
Maintain litigation dockets, manage deadlines, and oversee document workflows
Participate in case strategy discussions and team meetings
Facilitate communication with clients and assist in the development of expert witnesses
Contribute to the preparation for depositions, hearings, and trial-related work
Requirements:
2 to 5 years of experience in civil litigation
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Demonstrated proficiency in drafting complex legal documents
Familiarity with litigation procedures, motion practice, and evidence handling
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. state
Skills:
Strong analytical and legal research capabilities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple litigation tasks simultaneously
Competence in legal software and case management systems
Collaborative mindset with a strategic approach to problem-solving
