General Liability/Workers Compensation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its litigation team in Glen Allen, VA. This position is full-time and offers remote work flexibility. The ideal candidate will have expertise in General Liability and Workers Compensation law, with strong litigation, writing, and research skills. The successful applicant will work directly with a collaborative group of attorneys and gain valuable experience in handling a variety of cases.

Location:

• Glen Allen, VA

Duties:

• Review case files and analyze legal claims and causes of action.

• Conduct extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.

• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1,950 hours.

• Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and in depositions.

• Draft and respond to discovery requests.

• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.

• Prepare cases for trial and attend proceedings.

• Travel may be required for case-related matters.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in General Liability, with Workers Compensation experience preferred.

• Familiarity with handling civil cases from inception to resolution.

• Experience in taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert depositions.

• Proficiency in drafting and arguing substantive motions, attending hearings, and participating in trials.

• Experience in negotiations and mediations.

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

• Admitted to practice law in Virginia (other state licenses are a plus).

• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

• Ability to self-manage and work well in a team environment.

• Prompt responsiveness to emails and phone inquiries.

• Excellent client relations skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Must be admitted to practice in Virginia (other state licenses a plus).
