Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Intellectual Property Associate with 2–4 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate looking to join a dynamic and collaborative IP practice within a firm committed to client-focused service, professional growth, and community involvement. Location:

• Minneapolis, MN

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications

• Conduct intellectual property due diligence (preferred but not required)

• Provide strategic counsel on IP matters to clients across industries

• Collaborate with attorneys and clients on patent portfolio development

• Stay current on developments in patent law and related technologies

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of meaningful experience in patent preparation and prosecution

• Strong knowledge of U.S. patent law and filing procedures

• Prior experience with IP due diligence is a plus

• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction where the firm has an office

• Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) required

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

• Undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field

Certifications:

• Active state Bar license in good standing in at least one relevant jurisdiction

• USPTO registration (required)

Skills:

• Technical background with the ability to understand and articulate complex inventions

• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

• Business-oriented mindset and practical approach to client service

• Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
