Bilingual Immigration Attorney (Spanish/English)
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking a bilingual legal practitioner with expertise in immigration law. The position involves handling a diverse caseload with a focus on humanitarian relief, family reunification processes, and defense in removal proceedings. Duties:
Manage a full caseload involving humanitarian-based immigration filings (e.g., asylum, refugee matters).
Oversee family-based petitions, status adjustments, and related applications.
Represent clients during removal/deportation hearings and related proceedings.
Draft persuasive legal materials, including motions, briefs, and client declarations.
Conduct legal research to stay informed on evolving immigration laws and procedures.
Collaborate with paralegals and the administrative team to streamline case workflows.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of application packets (minimum 7 per week).
Hold individual client consultations (minimum 10 per week).
Conduct meetings to assist clients in preparing personal declarations.
Review all documentation for accuracy before final attorney sign-off.
Requirements:
Admission to a U.S. State Bar (Texas licensure preferred).
At least one year of hands-on experience practicing immigration law, especially in the areas of humanitarian, family-based, and removal defense.
Fluency in both Spanish and English.
Familiarity with courtroom procedure and administrative filings in immigration contexts.
The capability to manage client expectations and guide them through complex legal issues.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.
Certifications:
Active Bar license in good standing.
