A law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking a motivated and skilled Trust and Estate Litigation Attorney to join their growing team. The firm is looking for an attorney with 1-6 years of experience in litigation, with a particular focus or interest in trust and estate disputes. Duties:

  • Represent clients in trust and estate disputes, including will contests, trust disputes, and fiduciary duty matters.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research on trust and estate law, keeping up-to-date with changes and developments in the field.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients involved in trust and estate disputes.
  • Negotiate settlements and guide resolution strategies for estate-related conflicts.
  • Work collaboratively with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and assist in more complex litigation.
  • Manage a caseload independently while maintaining the highest standard of legal professionalism.

Requirements:

  • 1-6 years of experience in litigation, with a preference for experience in trust and estate matters.
  • Strong background in preparing cases for trial, including drafting pleadings and motions, and managing discovery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen ability to argue cases and represent clients in court.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in the use of legal software and research tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Education:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in California (California State Bar membership required).

Certifications:

  • Certification or coursework in Trusts and Estates is a plus but not required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate planning and administration law.
  • Strong litigation and courtroom experience, with an ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
  • Ability to think critically and apply legal principles to complex fact patterns.
  • Excellent client management skills with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with California trust and estate law, including relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Strong research and writing skills, especially in drafting legal briefs, motions, and other court documents.
  • Effective time management and the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
