Job Title: General Liability Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Scranton, PA, seeks a skilled and driven litigation attorney to join its expanding General Liability practice. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work alongside a dynamic legal team in a collaborative and collegial environment. The role is suited for an experienced litigator who is adept at managing complex cases independently while supporting broader team goals.

Duties:

• Conduct an in-depth analysis of legal claims and case files

• Perform comprehensive legal research and prepare substantive briefs, motions, pleadings, and appellate filings

• Manage a billable target of 1950 hours annually

• Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, and arbitration proceedings

• Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, document requests, and admissions

• Coordinate with expert witnesses for opinion development and trial strategy

• Handle all aspects of trial preparation and attend trials as necessary

• Travel may occasionally be required for court or client matters

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in General Liability litigation

• Proficient in managing civil litigation from inception to resolution

• Demonstrated ability in conducting and defending depositions, including expert and corporate witness depositions

• Familiarity with drafting and arguing complex motions

• Background in negotiating settlements and participating in mediations

• Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania (additional state admissions a plus)

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

• Ability to work independently while contributing to team success

• Reliable responsiveness to email and phone communication

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar
