Job Overview:
A dynamic and expanding law firm is seeking a Senior Estate Planning Attorney to join its Irvine, California office. This full-time position is designed for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of complex estate and trust planning, high-net-worth client advisement, and asset protection strategies. The ideal candidate will be a proactive legal strategist with the ability to manage matters independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. A portable book of business is preferred but not required.
Location:
Irvine, California
Duties:
Manage all phases of estate planning and trust administration
Conduct client intake and provide ongoing relationship management
Draft, review, and revise estate planning documents (trusts, wills, POAs, advanced directives, funding docs)
Advise high-net-worth clients on wealth transfer and asset protection strategies
Implement estate, income, and risk mitigation strategies
Interpret laws related to Proposition 13 and real property transfers
Prepare technical memoranda on estate and tax-related issues
Oversee complex estate matters in consultation with estate planning team
Conduct legal research, provide risk assessments, and propose action plans
Supervise and review work product of paralegals and legal assistants
Attend court appearances as needed (preferred)
Evaluate potential fraudulent transfers and voidable transactions
Assist with corporate legal matters when applicable
Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in estate planning and trust administration
Proven track record handling complex estate planning and high-net-worth client matters
Ability to manage legal staff and collaborate with attorneys across disciplines
Corporate law experience is a plus
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active member of the California State Bar (required)
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of estate and tax planning laws and strategies
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Strong legal writing, drafting, and research skills
Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational capabilities
Effective communicator with excellent client service skills
Foreign language skills a plus
