Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a mid-level or senior Litigation Associate to join its Honolulu office. The ideal candidate should possess an entrepreneurial spirit, a commitment to excellent client service, and a proven ability to manage complex litigation and investigations. This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced litigator to work on all aspects of litigation, from inception through trial and appeal, while collaborating with partners and clients.

Location:
Honolulu, HI

Duties:

• Manage complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Appear and argue in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
• Take and defend depositions, and work closely with witnesses and experts.
• Draft and prepare trial court, arbitration, and appellate briefs, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare written memoranda.
• Lead discovery and complex document review processes.
• Support business development and other litigation-related matters as needed.

Requirements:

• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellent client service.
• Proven ability to manage complex litigation and investigations.
• Strong experience with litigation processes, including trial and appellate work.
• Significant deposition and court experience required.
• Prior litigation experience in a law firm preferred.
• Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship is a plus.
• Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Hawai'i and be in good standing.
• Strong writing sample and law school transcript required with the application.
• A demonstrated commitment to the legal community (e.g., bench/bar leadership, sustained pro bono efforts) is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Hawai'i (or ability to obtain).

Skills:

• Strong litigation skills, including persuasive legal writing and acting as the case management lead.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate legal advice to clients and colleagues.
• Superb problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex legal issues using research and legal expertise.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and sound judgment in managing cases.
