Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Civil Litigation Associate for its downtown Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in California state civil litigation defense. This full-time role offers a dynamic work environment and the opportunity to engage in complex litigation or employment defense matters.

Duties

• Analyze and assess case value for early resolution.
• Develop and execute comprehensive litigation plans.
• Assist partners with various civil litigation cases.
• Conduct legal research on relevant issues.
• Maintain communication with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Conduct fact investigations and implement discovery plans.
• Attend depositions and draft correspondence regarding discovery issues.
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, and other proceedings.
• Prepare clients for depositions and hearings.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree and current good standing with the CA State Bar.
• Minimum of 1-year experience in California state civil litigation defense.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Effective time-management and communication skills.
• Familiarity with task code and insurance billing guidelines is a plus.
• Knowledge in Labor & Employment law is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctorate degree.

Certifications

• Current good standing with the CA State Bar.
