Job Overview:

A reputable law firm based in Fresno, CA, is actively seeking an experienced Immigration Intake Attorney to serve as a key point of contact for potential clients seeking legal immigration services. This role is central to the initial client engagement process and involves both strategic consultation and oversight of the intake function. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory capabilities, be client-focused, and bring deep knowledge of immigration law, including removal defense and family-based petitions.

Duties:

• Conduct in-depth immigration consultations with prospective clients to determine case viability and strategy

• Lead and supervise the intake department, including paralegals and contract staff, to ensure accurate scope of work and documentation

• Review intake forms and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness

• Communicate relevant client intake information to the firm's intake review committee

• Assign new matters appropriately within the legal team

• Participate in recruitment and hiring for intake roles

• Educate clients and intake personnel on immigration procedures and solutions

• Advise on diverse immigration pathways, including humanitarian relief and family-based petitions

• Occasionally, review and revise immigration application packets

• On occasion, prepare clients and witnesses for testimony before USCIS or immigration courts

• Perform legal research and provide risk/benefit analyses for potential cases

• Draft legal briefs and supporting documentation for various immigration filings

Requirements:

• Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience in immigration law

• Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise legal support staff

• Strong client-facing communication skills

• Background in sales or client conversion is a plus

• Prior experience managing a high-volume caseload

• Proficiency in immigration case types, including detained and non-detained removal defense, family-based petitions, humanitarian claims, and citizenship

• Familiarity with legal practice management software

• Capable of identifying challenges and providing structured solutions to legal leadership

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

• Admitted to practice law and in good standing with the relevant State Bar

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership
