Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is currently seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate with 2–4 years of experience in risk management and insurance law. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic legal team within the complex litigation and dispute resolution department. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse portfolio of legal work involving insurance coverage and advisory services across several specialized lines. This search is being conducted by a legal recruiting agency on behalf of the hiring firm.

Location:

• New York City, NY

Duties:

• Provide legal support on a wide range of risk management and insurance matters

• Assist with the negotiation and placement of standard and custom insurance programs

• Manage and monitor claims across various insurance lines

• Advise on coverage issues involving:

  • Directors & Officers (D&O)

  • Errors & Omissions (E&O)

  • Cyber insurance

  • Transactional insurance

• Serve as a resource on internal insurance-related issues for the broader firm

• Draft, review, and revise legal documents and correspondence

• Engage in cross-functional collaboration with colleagues across offices

• Contribute to strategy development and problem-solving in complex cases

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house setting

• Demonstrated understanding of core insurance coverage concepts

• Familiarity with the U.S. insurance market and regulatory landscape

• Ability to manage assignments independently and in a team setting

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Strong organizational and time management abilities

• Desire to develop deep subject-matter expertise in insurance law

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic performance and credentials

Certifications:

• Admission to a U.S. state bar or eligibility to obtain bar admission promptly

Skills:

• Legal research and analysis
