Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced Tax Attorney to support its business law practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax law, particularly in business and transactional tax matters. Experience advising tax-exempt organizations is a plus. This role provides an opportunity to develop and expand a practice within a supportive legal environment.

Duties:

• Tax Law Counseling: Advise clients on a wide range of tax matters, including business transactions, corporate tax issues, and compliance strategies.
• Transactional Support: Provide legal guidance on tax implications for mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
• Business Law Collaboration: Work closely with the firm’s business law team to develop tax-efficient strategies for clients.
• Tax-Exempt Organizations: Counsel non-profits and other tax-exempt entities on compliance and operational tax matters (preferred but not required).
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with evolving tax laws and ensure clients remain compliant with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Practice Development: Identify opportunities to expand the firm’s tax law practice and support client growth.

Requirements:

• Minimum of six years of experience practicing tax law, with an emphasis on business and transactional tax matters.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations affecting corporations and businesses.
• Ability to provide strategic legal counsel in a fast-paced business law environment.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities to effectively counsel clients and collaborate with colleagues.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team-focused legal practice.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania (must be in good standing).

Skills:

• Expertise in tax law, with a focus on business transactions.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Effective client communication and negotiation abilities.
• Experience advising tax-exempt organizations is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
