A law firm seeks an Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in family law, successions/probate, estate planning, and business law in Baton Rouge, LA. The candidate will manage a diverse caseload, draft pleadings, handle hearings and trials, conduct legal research, and work directly with clients. The firm values strong writing skills, courtroom confidence, and proactive communication.

Duties

• Handle divorce, custody, support, community property, and protective orders.
• Draft pleadings and agreements; appear for hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Draft succession pleadings and administration filings; prepare wills, POAs, living wills, and trusts.
• Counsel clients on Louisiana procedures and planning strategies.
• Form entities; draft/review operating and buy-sell agreements, contracts, and leases.
• Advise on compliance and handle related litigation.
• Draft petitions, motions, memos, and discovery; conduct legal research.
• Manage cases from intake to resolution; negotiate settlements and conduct trials.
• Maintain organized files, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients and courts.

Requirements

• 3 years of courtroom experience.
• 3 years of legal case management experience.
• 3 years of legal writing experience.
• Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Education

• Doctorate (Required)

Certifications

• Louisiana Bar License (Required)
• Driver's License (Required)

Skills

• Experience with Clio, Microsoft 365 applications, Fastcase, LEXIS, and AI software preferred.
• Advanced technological skills, including typing, preferred.
