Job Title: Intake Attorney (Immigration)
Job Overview:
A law firm based in Orange, CA is seeking a motivated Immigration Intake Attorney to serve as the initial legal contact for prospective clients. This position plays a pivotal role in evaluating potential immigration cases and supervising intake processes. The attorney will be responsible for providing strategic legal assessments during consultations and managing a team responsible for client onboarding. This role combines legal acumen with team leadership and offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced immigration practice.
Duties:
Conduct detailed consultations with potential clients to assess case viability and outline legal strategy
Supervise intake personnel, including legal assistants and contractors, ensuring documentation accuracy and completeness
Provide key case insights and background details to the Intake Committee for review and approval processes
Oversee the distribution and assignment of new client matters within the intake pipeline
Support hiring and onboarding efforts within the intake legal function
Clearly explain complex immigration issues and procedures to both clients and internal staff
Educate potential clients about pathways including removal defense, family petitions, and humanitarian relief
Occasionally review application packets and provide edits or final adjustments as needed
Participate in client preparation for USCIS interviews or hearings, when necessary
Research legal questions and assess eligibility for immigration benefits
Contribute to legal brief drafting for various immigration matters
Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in immigration law
Demonstrated ability to engage professionally in both English and Spanish
Strong interpersonal communication and client-facing skills
Prior team supervision or management experience preferred
Sales or consultative background beneficial for client engagement
Proven track record of managing legal workflows and advancing cases
Proficiency in family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, citizenship matters, and removal defense (both detained and non-detained cases)
Familiarity with digital case-tracking platforms is a plus
Capacity to identify operational issues and recommend actionable solutions
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active membership in good standing with a U.S. State Bar (any jurisdiction)
