Associate Attorney Civil Litigation

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Salt Lake City, UT, office. This role involves managing various phases of civil disputes, working alongside seasoned practitioners to deliver outstanding representation in personal injury and property damage matters.

Duties

• Conduct in-depth legal research and synthesize findings to inform case strategies

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings

• Prepare for and assist with trial-related activities, including witness preparation and exhibit organization

• Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex case development and trial preparation

• Represent clients during negotiations, mediations, and court appearances as needed

• Maintain effective communication with clients to relay case updates and gather pertinent information

• Manage discovery tasks, including drafting requests, reviewing responses, and taking depositions

Requirements

• Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a docket with minimal supervision

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to juggle multiple matters simultaneously

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for persuasive advocacy and client engagement

• Demonstrated analytical aptitude for evaluating complex legal issues and proposing strategic solutions

• Familiarity with litigation research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis)

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active membership in good standing with the Utah State Bar (or eligibility for admission)

Skills

• Proficiency in all phases of civil litigation, including discovery and motion practice

• Competence in trial preparation tasks—drafting exhibits, organizing evidence, and coordinating witnesses

• Ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents
