Job Overview:
A well-established Washington-based municipal law firm is seeking a Municipal Law Attorney to join its team in a hybrid capacity. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience advising government clients and public agencies. This position offers the opportunity to provide City Attorney services to a variety of municipalities, with a focus on delivering high-quality legal counsel across a broad spectrum of municipal matters. Location:

Duties:
Provide legal counsel to municipal clients as general or assistant city attorney
Advise on issues involving municipal governance, ordinances, and compliance
Attend and advise at City Council meetings
Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and legal memoranda
Assist with matters involving land use, labor and employment, and public records
Counsel clients on the Open Public Meetings Act and the Public Records Act
Address public works contracting and condemnation issues as needed
Represent clients in litigation and administrative proceedings, if applicable
Conduct legal research and provide detailed written and oral analyses
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal or public agency law
Prior experience serving government clients, either as in-house counsel or external advisor
Willingness to attend in-person meetings within Washington State
Ability to manage multiple legal matters independently and efficiently
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the State of Washington (required)
Skills:
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of Washington municipal laws and procedures
Familiarity with land use regulations, labor/employment law, and government contracting
Ability to work independently in a hybrid work environment
