Duties

  • Represent detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Conduct legal intakes with potential and current clients

  • Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including family-based petitions and humanitarian relief

  • Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation for court and USCIS filings

  • Provide consultations and develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys

  • Guide clients and witnesses through testimony preparation and USCIS interviews

  • Conduct visits to detention centers for client intake and case assessment

  • Stay updated on immigration law developments and present legal changes to stakeholders

  • Collaborate with legal assistants and fellow attorneys on caseload management

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law (internships and clinical experience considered)

  • Familiarity with EOIR proceedings, USCIS filings, and family-based immigration matters

  • Ability to manage a caseload under supervision and meet deadlines

  • Strong interest in practicing removal defense and humanitarian immigration law

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in a U.S. state bar (Texas preferred or ability to obtain prompt admission)

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, and research skills

  • Strong interpersonal and client communication abilities

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)

  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute

  • Experience with immigration case management software (preferred)
