Advise educational institutions on individualized education program (IEP) matters and related student services issues
Represent clients during state and federal compliance investigations and administrative proceedings, including due process hearings
Assist in the development and revision of internal policies, procedures, and training materials
Deliver legal workshops and in-service sessions for school staff and administrators
Monitor evolving regulatory guidance and legal standards impacting special education and student rights
Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and resource development within the firm’s education law practice group
Minimum of two (2) years’ legal experience, preferably in education law, administrative law, or a public service-related practice
Demonstrated capacity for complex legal analysis, research, and writing
Strong communication and presentation skills tailored to non-legal audiences
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Proficiency in managing time-sensitive client matters in a high-responsibility practice area
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active membership in the State Bar of California
In-depth understanding of special education law, including IDEA, Section 504, and relevant California statutes
Experience handling administrative complaints, mediations, or hearings (preferred)
Capable of building trust and rapport with educational clients and diverse stakeholder groups
Exceptional legal drafting and document review abilities
Adept at simplifying legal concepts for school administrators and educators
