Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Portland, ME to provide comprehensive legal services in business law. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in general corporate and transactional matters.

Duties

• Research complex business law matters and provide legal advice.
• Draft, review, and negotiate transactional documents, including mergers and acquisitions agreements.
• Advise clients on business transactions, entity formation, and corporate governance.
• Collaborate with fellow attorneys and staff members both in-person and virtually.
• Assign support work to paralegals and legal assistants as needed.
• Present educational materials on the latest developments in business law.
• Facilitate the development and learning of associates, staff, and students.
• Accurately account for time spent supporting clients and the firm.
• Operate with autonomy while seeking support when necessary.
• Treat others with courtesy and respect at all times.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Maine Bar admission and maintenance of good standing.
• Ability to critically think, write, research, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Capability to sit and stand for extended durations.
• Proficiency in using electronics such as computers and phones.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.

Education

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

• Maine Bar admission.
