Junior Partner - Personal Injury and Automobile Negligence Defense

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Junior Partner for its Garden City, New York office. The ideal candidate will have over eight years of experience as a trial lawyer with more than ten verdicts in personal injury and automobile negligence actions. This role requires managing a litigation caseload from inception through trial and appeals, with a focus on UM/UIM, PIP, and other civil actions.

Duties

• Handle a high-volume caseload independently and with supervision from inception to trial and appeals.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery demands.
• Conduct depositions, make court appearances, and engage in motion practice and expert retention.
• Develop and execute strategy internally and with clients.
• Analyze medical records and other relevant documents.
• Draft insurance coverage opinions and analyze insurance policies.
• Perform legal research and jury verdict searches.
• Maintain excellent client relationships and comply with client guidelines.
• Ensure all deadlines are met and accurately record billable hours.
• Mentor junior associates and delegate work as necessary.

Requirements

• 8+ years' experience in defense litigation.
• Trial experience with at least ten jury verdicts.
• Experience in personal injury and automobile negligence defense, including UM/UIM, PIP, and other civil actions.
• Experience with high-volume clients and case settlements through negotiations, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Admitted to practice in the State of New York and United States District Court for the District of New York (NY, PA, and/or CT admission is a plus).
• Additional Federal Court experience is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to the State Bar of New York.
