A law firm with a four-decade track record of success is seeking a full-time Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join its Boston-based private client services group. The ideal candidate will bring 2–5 years of hands-on experience in estate planning and estate/trust administration, a passion for helping individuals and families protect generational wealth, and a drive to grow within a collegial, well-established legal environment. The role offers strong mentorship, clear partnership potential, and a bonus structure tied to performance and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead client consultations to uncover goals around wealth preservation, family legacy, and healthcare preferences
Develop tailored estate strategies in collaboration with senior legal advisors
Draft, review, and finalize sophisticated planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, healthcare proxies, and durable powers of attorney
Advise clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax considerations
Guide fiduciaries and beneficiaries through probate and trust administration processes
Interpret changes in relevant federal and state regulations to ensure client compliance and optimal planning
Offer guidance on lifetime giving, charitable structures, and asset protection strategies
Maintain strong communication with clients to ensure trust and transparency throughout the legal process
Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active license to practice law in Massachusetts
A minimum of 2 years (and up to 5 years) of relevant legal experience in estate planning and probate
Demonstrated proficiency with trusts, wills, and related legal frameworks
Solid understanding of estate and gift tax laws at both the state and federal levels
Ability to manage projects independently while collaborating effectively with team members
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
Previous experience with administering estates and managing trust accounts
Highly organized, capable of handling multiple matters simultaneously under a deadline
Strong interpersonal skills and a client-centric approach
Clear and persuasive written and verbal communication
Thoughtful problem-solving mindset with attention to legal nuance
Familiarity with tax planning structures and charitable instruments is advantageous
Education & Certification:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
Admission to the Massachusetts Bar in good standing
