Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent to counsel clients and prepare and prosecute complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and medical device patent applications. This fully remote position allows candidates to work from anywhere in the U.S., offering both full-time and part-time opportunities.

Duties

• Draft high-quality U.S. patent applications and prepare effective responses to Office Actions before the USPTO.
• Provide strategic advice to clients on patentability analyses, competitor monitoring, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Manage assigned docket, organize related tasks, and balance multiple priorities.
• Assist in managing and expanding domestic and international patent portfolios.
• Analyze complex technical disclosures, drawings, and evaluate patent documents and industry articles.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in patent prosecution and client counseling, focusing on mechanical and/or medical device technologies.
• Valid USPTO registration number in good standing.

Education

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.

Certifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing of at least one state bar (for attorney applicants).
