Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking a Family Law Attorney to join its growing practice in Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will represent clients in family law matters such as divorce and child custody, providing legal counsel and representation throughout the legal process. Location:

• Omaha, Nebraska

Duties:

• Independently represent clients in family law matters, including divorce and child custody cases
• Provide legal counsel regarding clients' rights and obligations under Nebraska (and potentially Iowa) law
• Manage a caseload of family law matters, ensuring timely resolution
• Draft, review, and file legal documents such as petitions, motions, affidavits, orders, stipulations, and agreements
• Appear in court for hearings, trials, and mediations
• Negotiate and mediate settlements to resolve disputes efficiently
• Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in family law
• Prepare and present legal arguments, briefs, and evidence in court
• Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed and addressing concerns
• Provide empathetic support to clients dealing with emotional and sensitive matters
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of client relationships
• Participate in networking events, community outreach, and business development activities
• Supervise paralegals and staff as the role progresses

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in family law
• Some first-chair experience with contested hearings
• Ability to advocate effectively in a courtroom setting
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate when appropriate, and manage deadlines in a high-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Active member in good standing of the Bar in Nebraska (Iowa licensure is a plus)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Nebraska (Iowa licensure is helpful)
