Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Omaha, Nebraska is actively seeking a highly experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join its legal team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a decade of experience advising and defending employers on complex labor and employment matters. The ideal candidate will bring not only legal acumen but also a proactive, client-focused mindset to navigate diverse workplace legal issues for both public and private sector clients.
Location:
Omaha, Nebraska
Duties:
Represent clients in litigation involving employment-related claims in federal and state courts, including handling jury trials
Provide legal guidance on compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws
Draft and update employee handbooks, employment contracts, separation agreements, and other employment-related documents
Conduct internal investigations or audits for clients and offer proactive risk management advice
Advise on compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and represent clients in related investigations or lawsuits
Develop union-avoidance strategies for employers
Advise unionized employers on bargaining, grievances, and arbitrations
Requirements:
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in labor and employment law
Extensive knowledge of laws concerning anti-discrimination, retaliation, employee accommodations, wage and hour issues, and workplace safety
Ability to handle cases independently with minimal supervision
Strong client service orientation and ability to produce high-quality, efficient legal work
Effective communication skills for both legal and non-legal audiences
High level of initiative and accountability
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Licensed or eligible to become licensed to practice law in Nebraska
