Job Title: Immigration Attorney - EOIR (Habeas & Writs)
Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm located in Dallas, TX, is actively seeking a highly motivated Immigration Attorney with expertise in removal defense and federal litigation to join its growing legal team. This role emphasizes courtroom advocacy, federal habeas corpus petitions, and strategic defense against deportation. The attorney will collaborate with a dedicated group of legal professionals, manage an independent caseload, and champion the rights of immigrants with empathy and vigorous representation.
Duties:
Advocate for clients before immigration courts in removal defense matters
Draft, file, and litigate habeas corpus petitions and writs challenging detention and agency decisions
Represent clients in federal district and appellate courts
Conduct thorough legal research and prepare persuasive motions, briefs, and other filings
Handle client interactions with professionalism, compassion, and integrity
Manage caseload independently while coordinating with support staff
Remain informed on changes in immigration laws, regulations, and policies
Requirements:
2-3 years of direct experience in removal defense and federal litigation
Admission to practice law in any U.S. state
Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social justice principles
Strong legal writing and oral advocacy capabilities
Ability to effectively advance cases and manage deadlines with minimal supervision
Proficiency with case management systems (preferred)
Spanish language proficiency (preferred)
Strong collaborative skills and willingness to support team strategies
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active Bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction
Skills:
Expertise in removal proceedings, habeas corpus filings, and federal court practices
Exceptional legal research, writing, and litigation skills
