Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Secured Transactions Attorney located in South Carolina to join its expanding team. This role focuses on assisting clients that own or hold security interests in motor vehicles and other assets, including banks, finance companies, and fleet companies. The attorney will manage high-volume case loads, resolve disputes, and handle litigation when necessary. This is a remote opportunity, allowing for flexibility while working within a collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Analyze, interpret, and evaluate cases involving clients with legal/financial interests in high-value assets.
  • Negotiate and resolve disputes related to impound liens, property damage claims, and other asset-related issues.
  • Engage in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), such as arbitration, or initiate litigation as necessary.
  • Communicate directly with clients, insurance adjusters, attorneys, tow yards, repair shops, and other involved parties.
  • Handle all aspects of litigation when negotiations fail, ensuring a comprehensive approach to case resolution.
  • Document all activities, including contacts, investigations, negotiations, and evidence, in case management systems.
  • Review and settle claims within discretionary authority, obtaining necessary documents and releases from clients.
  • Adhere to the Rules of Professional Conduct and maintain the highest standards of legal practice.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high-volume case loads.
  • Competent in using job-related technologies such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and case management software.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to resolve disputes with repair shops, tow yards, insurance adjusters, and government agencies.
  • Strong litigation skills and experience in ADR processes, including arbitration.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and efficiently resolve complex cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and other parties.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases concurrently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must be a member of the South Carolina State Bar in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal and financial matters involving high-value assets.
  • Experience in secured transactions and related legal disputes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in case management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and various stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of ADR processes and litigation procedures.
