A distinguished law firm based in New York City is seeking an accomplished litigation attorney with extensive experience in defending civil matters. This role is ideal for a seasoned legal professional with a deep understanding of general liability and professional defense claims. The position offers a hybrid work environment and emphasizes collaborative practice, hands-on case involvement, and exposure to a wide range of litigation areas without requiring a pre-existing client base.

Duties:

• Handle all stages of civil litigation from inception through trial

• Represent clients in proceedings involving general liability, labor and employment, and professional malpractice

• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda

• Conduct depositions, argue motions, and participate in settlement negotiations

• Engage directly with clients and expert witnesses throughout litigation

• Collaborate with colleagues across legal disciplines within the firm

• Manage case strategy while meeting deadlines in a high-volume caseload

• Advise clients on risk mitigation and legal compliance

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of active litigation experience

• Admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar

• Prior exposure to defense-side litigation in areas such as:

  • General liability

  • Labor and Employment

  • Medical malpractice

  • Construction defect

  • Professional liability

  • NY Labor Law matters

• Background in insurance defense litigation preferred

• Strong legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills

• Ability to function efficiently in a high-demand, team-driven setting

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (mandatory)

• Admission to federal courts in New York is advantageous

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Experience using Lexis for legal research and case law analysis

• Strong organizational and analytical capabilities

• Effective interpersonal and client communication skills

• Adaptable to evolving legal strategies and procedural updates
