A respected law firm is seeking a Senior Counsel with extensive litigation experience to handle a broad portfolio of complex general liability matters. The role involves managing high-stakes litigation across various areas including New York Labor Law, premises liability, catastrophic injury, transportation, and more. Location

• New York City, NY

Duties

• Manage an active caseload of 25–30 litigation matters

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences

• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal briefs

• Prepare legal correspondence to clients, co-counsel, and courts

• Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw/LexisNexis

• Draft and respond to discovery requests

• Review and analyze documents for production

• Investigate claims and develop litigation strategies

• Report to insurers and insureds on case strategy and updates

• Oversee litigation lifecycle from initial response through trial or resolution

• Supervise associates and paralegals involved in case preparation and management

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of litigation experience

• Substantial experience handling general liability matters, including labor law, premises liability, and catastrophic injury claims

• Admitted to practice in the State of New York

• Experience managing complex insurance defense litigation

• Demonstrated success working independently and within a team setting

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, class of 2016 or earlier

• Strong academic credentials required

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing
