Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney to join a dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for independently managing a caseload, interacting directly with clients, and preparing and presenting cases in immigration court. This opportunity provides meaningful exposure to removal defense, humanitarian relief, and family-based immigration matters in a collaborative environment with substantial growth potential.
Duties:
Offer strategic guidance and clearly explain immigration procedures to clients
Represent clients - both detained and non-detained - in removal proceedings before immigration courts and appellate bodies
Draft and submit a range of immigration filings, including petitions and supporting evidence
Conduct intake interviews at detention centers as needed
Review and finalize client filings prepared by legal support staff
Participate in outreach and liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations regarding immigration issues
Conduct consultations with prospective clients and advise on legal strategy
Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony before USCIS and immigration courts
Draft legal briefs and memoranda for various immigration matters
Stay informed on developments in immigration law and policy
Collaborate with other attorneys and support personnel in case preparation and review
Requirements:
1 to 4 years of substantive immigration law experience
Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload independently
Strong written and oral advocacy skills
Committed to team-oriented collaboration and strategic problem-solving
Demonstrated experience with family-based petitions, removal defense, humanitarian relief, and citizenship applications
Familiarity with EOIR procedures and USCIS practices
Prior use of immigration-specific case management software is preferred
Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly desirable
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing with the Bar of any U.S. jurisdiction
Certifications:
Active admission to a State Bar (California license preferred)

Legal research, analytical, and writing proficiency
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities
