Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney to join a dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for independently managing a caseload, interacting directly with clients, and preparing and presenting cases in immigration court. This opportunity provides meaningful exposure to removal defense, humanitarian relief, and family-based immigration matters in a collaborative environment with substantial growth potential.

Duties:

• Offer strategic guidance and clearly explain immigration procedures to clients

• Represent clients - both detained and non-detained - in removal proceedings before immigration courts and appellate bodies

• Draft and submit a range of immigration filings, including petitions and supporting evidence

• Conduct intake interviews at detention centers as needed

• Review and finalize client filings prepared by legal support staff

• Participate in outreach and liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations regarding immigration issues

• Conduct consultations with prospective clients and advise on legal strategy

• Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony before USCIS and immigration courts

• Draft legal briefs and memoranda for various immigration matters

• Stay informed on developments in immigration law and policy

• Collaborate with other attorneys and support personnel in case preparation and review

Requirements:

• 1 to 4 years of substantive immigration law experience

• Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload independently

• Strong written and oral advocacy skills

• Committed to team-oriented collaboration and strategic problem-solving

• Demonstrated experience with family-based petitions, removal defense, humanitarian relief, and citizenship applications

• Familiarity with EOIR procedures and USCIS practices

• Prior use of immigration-specific case management software is preferred

• Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly desirable

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

• Licensed and in good standing with the Bar of any U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications:

• Active admission to a State Bar (California license preferred)
