A reputable law firm in Sacramento, California is seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. This role is focused on representing both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings and managing a diverse caseload of family-based, humanitarian, and other immigration matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on immigration law experience and a strong commitment to client advocacy and strategic legal solutions. Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including:
Family-based petitions
Humanitarian relief
Naturalization and citizenship filings
EOIR applications
Conduct intakes and interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers
Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS interviews
Draft legal briefs and conduct detailed legal analysis for complex immigration cases
Review and revise case packets and legal documents prepared by support staff
Conduct legal consultations with prospective clients and advise on case options
Liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations on immigration policy and case-specific matters
Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other attorneys on case progression and client service
Minimum of 3 years of experience in immigration law
Ability to manage a full caseload independently while working collaboratively with a legal team
Demonstrated success in handling removal defense and family-based immigration matters
Proven ability to draft legal documents and analyze complex legal issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active license to practice law in any U.S. state or jurisdiction
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Familiarity with USCIS and EOIR procedures
Experience with immigration case management software (preferred)
Ability to maintain organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
