A reputable law firm in Sacramento, California is seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. This role is focused on representing both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings and managing a diverse caseload of family-based, humanitarian, and other immigration matters. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on immigration law experience and a strong commitment to client advocacy and strategic legal solutions. Duties

• Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals

• Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including:

  • Family-based petitions

  • Humanitarian relief

  • Naturalization and citizenship filings

  • EOIR applications

• Conduct intakes and interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers

• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS interviews

• Draft legal briefs and conduct detailed legal analysis for complex immigration cases

• Review and revise case packets and legal documents prepared by support staff

• Conduct legal consultations with prospective clients and advise on case options

• Liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations on immigration policy and case-specific matters

• Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other attorneys on case progression and client service

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in immigration law

• Ability to manage a full caseload independently while working collaboratively with a legal team

• Demonstrated success in handling removal defense and family-based immigration matters

• Proven ability to draft legal documents and analyze complex legal issues

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in any U.S. state or jurisdiction

Skills

• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

• Familiarity with USCIS and EOIR procedures

• Experience with immigration case management software (preferred)

• Ability to maintain organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
