Job Title: Tenants' Rights Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Beverly Hills, CA, is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven attorney to support low-income tenants in combating unlawful housing practices. This position involves direct legal representation, litigation, community outreach, and policy advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a deep commitment to housing justice and a proactive, client-centered approach to legal services.

Duties:

• Litigate housing-related matters, including habitability violations such as mold, pests, structural issues, or lack of essential utilities

• Provide legal consultations and advice regarding tenant protections under municipal, state, and federal laws

• Draft pleadings, conduct discovery, and manage case strategy from intake through resolution

• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and landlord representatives

• Collaborate with legal support staff and partner professionals to deliver integrated client support

• Conduct educational sessions and outreach events to inform tenants of their legal rights

• Stay current on legislation and policy changes affecting tenant rights

• Contribute to advocacy coalitions and policy campaigns focused on improving tenant protections

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in the State of California

• 3-5+ years’ experience in housing law, civil litigation, or public interest legal services preferred (open to highly motivated recent graduates with demonstrated interest in tenant advocacy)

• Proven ability to litigate independently and manage a demanding caseload

• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds

• Bilingual capabilities, especially in Spanish or other languages prevalent in the tenant community, are highly desirable

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
