Job Overview:
A top-tier law firm is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate Attorney with 2–4 years of experience to join its Risk Management & Insurance practice, based in Washington, DC or any of the firm’s U.S. office locations. This position is ideal for attorneys who want to develop specialized expertise in risk and insurance law while collaborating across multiple practice groups on high-level matters. The role provides a unique opportunity to engage in complex insurance placements, claims management, and advisory work related to D&O, E&O, cyber, and transactional insurance.

Location:

• Washington, DC

Duties:

• Support the placement and negotiation of custom and traditional insurance programs

• Advise internal firm teams and external clients on a broad range of risk management and insurance matters

• Monitor and manage claims across multiple insurance lines, including:

  • Directors & Officers (D&O)

  • Errors & Omissions (E&O)

  • Cyber liability

  • Transactional risk insurance

• Draft, review, and analyze insurance coverage terms and related contracts

• Work with senior attorneys on client counseling and problem-solving initiatives

• Contribute to the development of risk strategies for complex corporate transactions and litigation

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of experience in insurance coverage, risk management, or related areas

• Familiarity with U.S. insurance market practices and foundational insurance law concepts

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail

• Strong interest in developing niche expertise in insurance law across diverse industries

• Must be a self-starter with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

• Active bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction or eligibility to obtain admission promptly

• Admission to the DC Bar preferred for Washington-based applicants

Skills:

• Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication

• Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and negotiate favorable terms

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Organized, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and in teams
