A leading law firm is seeking a USPTO-registered Patent Attorney to join its Chemistry & Life Sciences Patent Prosecution team. Location:

• Raleigh, NC

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in life sciences and software-related fields

• Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence analyses

• Interface directly with inventors and in-house counsel to develop IP strategies

• Prepare responses to USPTO office actions

• Review technical disclosures and contribute to invention harvesting efforts

• Provide legal advice on patent portfolio development and management

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience

• Background in technologies such as bioinformatics, computational biology, or AI

• Strong legal and technical writing skills

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication abilities

• Willingness to provide writing samples and academic transcripts

Education:

• Advanced degree preferred (MS or PhD) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field

Certifications:

• USPTO registration required

• For attorney candidates: active license in the state of primary office location

Skills:

• Ability to handle complex technical subject matter across interdisciplinary fields

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Proficiency in drafting high-quality patent applications

• Experience working with scientific and legal professionals

• Familiarity with legal research tools and patent databases
