A reputable law firm specializing in creditors' rights is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its litigation team in the Chicago, Illinois office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling a high-volume caseload focused on debt collection litigation, including courtroom appearances, drafting legal documents, and collaborating with internal and external legal teams. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic legal environment with robust administrative and legal support.

Duties

• Draft and review legal documents including summonses, complaints, judgments, settlement agreements, and discovery materials

• Prepare and respond to litigation motions

• Represent clients in court and attend hearings regularly

• Communicate with consumers, employers, and attorneys to facilitate resolutions

• Review lawsuits, pleadings, and court filings for accuracy and compliance

• Arrange court coverage as needed, including preparing necessary documents and instructions for coverage attorneys

• Maintain accurate and timely case management throughout all phases of litigation

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois

• Comfortable with courtroom appearances and punctual travel to court

• Willingness to travel as needed (mileage and other travel-related expenses reimbursed per firm policy)

• Ability to manage a high caseload and meet deadlines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• High attention to detail and time management in a fast-paced legal environment

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Illinois

• Additional bar admissions in other states (e.g., SC, IA, MO, KS, NY, NV, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, NC) are a plus

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong legal writing and analysis abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively with courts, clients, and team members

• Well-organized with strong case management capabilities
