A law firm seeks a litigator with 5-10 years of litigation experience to join its Civil Rights practice group in Chicago, IL. The attorney will manage a full caseload, collaborate with a team, and engage in all litigation aspects, including pre-suit investigation, discovery, and trial.

Duties

• Manage a full caseload and collaborate with team members.
• Conduct pre-suit investigations and engage in discovery.
• Handle depositions, motion practice, and settlement negotiations.
• Work closely with clients, co-counsel, and staff across practice areas.
• Vet and investigate potential cases.
• Develop litigation strategies and contribute to case priorities.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff.
• Evaluate and provide quarterly projections.
• Engage in business development activities.

Requirements

• Proven substantive civil trial experience.
• Significant federal civil litigation experience preferred.
• Passion for civil rights advocacy.
• Self-starter with strong independent and team collaboration skills.
• Outstanding research and writing abilities.
• Effective communication skills and creative litigation approach.
• Commitment to social justice and community advocacy.

Education

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the Bar of the State of Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois required.
