Job Overview:
A premier law firm is seeking a 2nd to 4th year Associate Attorney to join its Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice group. This role is ideal for a junior to mid-level associate interested in handling high-impact cybersecurity incidents, advising on complex regulatory matters, and supporting transactions involving data privacy and information security issues. The attorney will work closely with leading technology clients on a wide range of cutting-edge issues. This recruitment is being conducted on behalf of the firm.

Location:

• San Francisco, CA

Duties:

• Counsel clients through all stages of cybersecurity incidents and data breaches

• Advise on compliance with U.S. and international data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA)

• Draft and negotiate data protection agreements, privacy policies, and cybersecurity protocols

• Support the data and privacy aspects of technology transactions, M&A, and other strategic deals

• Provide guidance to cybersecurity companies on compliance related to threat intelligence and research

• Collaborate with internal teams on multi-disciplinary legal and business strategies

• Monitor evolving regulatory landscapes and prepare client advisories

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of legal experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, regulatory investigations, or technology transactions

• Background in incident response, investigations, or advisory work with government or regulatory bodies is a plus

• Ability to work independently while managing a variety of matters in a fast-paced environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

• Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in good standing in one of the listed jurisdictions

• CIPP/US or similar privacy/cybersecurity certification is advantageous
