This position is focused on the life sciences sector and involves working alongside patent counsel and attorneys across various practice groups. The role is ideal for a candidate with a strong scientific background and extensive experience in patent prosecution and portfolio strategy.

Location

• Stamford, CT

Duties

• Assess the patentability of innovations in diverse scientific and technological areas

• Draft, prepare, and file U.S. patent applications

• Manage U.S. patent prosecution and coordinate with international counsel for foreign filings

• Support intellectual property due diligence projects

• Assist in strategic management of patent portfolios

• Conduct legal and technical research on IP-related issues

• Partner with attorneys, clients, and internal stakeholders to develop IP strategies

• Serve as a liaison across departments and maintain regular communication with outside counsel

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in patent prosecution within a law firm or in-house legal environment

• Subject matter expertise in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices

• Experience with international patent prosecution processes

• Proven ability to handle multiple matters in a high-paced legal setting

Education

• Ph.D. in a relevant life sciences discipline such as biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field

Certifications

• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Candidates eligible to sit for the Patent Bar in the near term will also be considered

Skills

• Deep scientific and technical understanding of life sciences technologies

• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary legal teams

• Experience with mechanical or electrical technologies is a plus
