Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney in New York City, NY. The successful candidate will manage complex coverage disputes, guide clients through policy interpretation, and lead litigation and alternative dispute resolution efforts for insurers and insureds.

Duties

• Analyze and interpret insurance policies, endorsements, and coverage issues
• Lead coverage litigation in federal and state courts, as well as arbitrations and mediations
• Draft motions, briefs, coverage opinions, reservation-of-rights letters, and coverage opinions
• Counsel clients on claims handling, subrogation, allocation, and bad-faith matters
• Coordinate with coverage counsel, claim teams, and risk managers on strategic case planning
• Supervise associate attorneys and paralegals on discovery, document review, and briefing
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends in insurance law and regulatory developments

Requirements

• 9 years of insurance coverage practice, including significant courtroom and ADR experience
• Admission to the New York State Bar, in good standing
• Demonstrated success in managing high-value coverage disputes and coverage counseling
• Thorough familiarity with CGL, professional liability, D&O, environmental, and specialty lines
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor junior attorneys, and foster client relationships
• Excellent project management skills with strict adherence to deadlines

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York State
• (Preferred) Certification in Insurance Law or Alternative Dispute Resolution
