Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid to senior level associate attorney for its Crystal Lake, IL office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in insurance coverage litigation, construction, trucking, and premises liability.

Duties

• Assist with managing a thriving insurance coverage practice with cases throughout the Midwest.
• Defend and prosecute coverage matters from inception through trial, working closely with a supervising partner.
• Draft substantive legal motions in state and federal court, including motions for dismissal and summary judgment.
• Conduct 30(b)(6) depositions and examinations under oath.
• Provide oversight and advice to claims personnel and in-house counsel on property insurance appraisals.

Requirements

• Licensure in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, or other applicable federal district court.
• Minimum of four years of law licensure and three years of insurance coverage experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage files and report directly to clients.
• Provide writing samples, including deposition transcripts and motions, prior to interview.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in the State of Illinois.

Skills

• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Competence in legal writing and drafting of motions.
• Familiarity with federal and state discovery procedures.
