This role involves hands-on litigation, requiring a self-starter ready to handle cases from intake through resolution. The attorney will regularly appear in court, work closely with clients, and collaborate with a supportive team.

Duties

• Provide expert counsel in divorce, child custody, and support matters.
• Draft and negotiate prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
• Handle hearings, mediations, and trials in family law cases.
• Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony matters.
• Conduct bond hearings and argue motions in criminal cases.
• Manage a full caseload independently, meeting all deadlines.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and motions.
• Maintain communication with clients and address their concerns.
• Collaborate with legal professionals and stay updated on Michigan law.

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of litigation experience in family law and/or criminal defense.
• Demonstrated courtroom experience, including hearings and motions.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent judgment and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
• Genuine care for clients and ability to counsel them through high-stakes situations.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
