Associate Attorney – Labor & Employment Law
(NY / NJ – Remote / Hybrid)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney focused on Labor and Employment Law to join our growing practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who wants hands-on litigation experience, direct client contact, and meaningful work representing employees.
This is primarily a NY/NJ remote or hybrid position, but the successful candidate must have easy access to New York City and New Jersey for court appearances, mediations, and client meetings as needed.
The firm also practices immigration law, and there is an opportunity for an interested candidate to learn immigration law, particularly where it intersects with employment issues. However, this position is primarily labor and employment focused, and immigration experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
Represent employees in labor and employment matters, including:
Wage and hour violations (FLSA, NYLL, NJWPL)
Workplace discrimination and retaliation
Sexual harassment and hostile work environment claims
Misclassification and other labor law violations
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement documents
Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy development
Participate in negotiations, mediations, and settlement conferences
Appear in New York and New Jersey state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies such as:
NYSDHR
EEOC
NYDOL / NJDOL
Work directly with Spanish-speaking clients to gather facts and provide legal counsel
Collaborate closely with senior attorneys
Maintain strong client relationships and provide high-quality client service
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Admitted to practice in New York (New Jersey admission preferred or willingness to obtain)
Minimum 3 years of legal experience, or willingness to train the right candidate
Experience or strong interest in labor and employment law
Fluency in Spanish and English
Comfort with litigation and court appearances (or strong interest in developing these skills)
Strong legal writing, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Easy access to New York City and New Jersey
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling wage-and-hour cases, discrimination, or retaliation claims
Familiarity with:
FLSA
NYLL / NYSHRL
New Jersey employment statutes
Experience working with immigrant or vulnerable worker populations
Interest in learning immigration law and employment–immigration intersections
Trial or evidentiary hearing experience (not required)
What We Offer
Competitive annual salary and generous time-off policies
(Please include salary requirements with application)
Significant courtroom and litigation experience
Mentorship and training in labor and employment law
Opportunity to learn immigration law for candidates interested in expanding their skill set
Meaningful work representing working people
Collaborative and supportive work environment
Primarily remote work with flexibility
Why This Role Is Special
This is a true labor and employment role with real litigation exposure. Associates are not siloed and gain hands-on experience in drafting, strategy, negotiations, and court appearances.
Because the firm also practices immigration law, attorneys gain valuable exposure to how immigration status can impact workplace rights, offering a broader perspective without requiring a dual-practice commitment.
Location Requirements
Must have easy access to New York City and New Jersey
Position is primarily remote but requires flexibility for:
Court appearances
Mediations
Client meetings

Resume / CV
Cover letter explaining interest in labor and employment law
