Job Title: Creditor's Rights Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in Amsterdam, NY, is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join its expanding Creditors' Rights practice. The role focuses on representing financial institutions in mortgage foreclosure, consumer collection matters, and related proceedings. This position is ideal for a candidate with deep familiarity with New York foreclosure law, a strong courtroom presence, and a desire to contribute to a high-volume practice. The role may involve limited travel within the state and offers a full range of benefits.

Duties:

• Represent institutional clients in foreclosure, collection, and creditors’ rights matters

• Manage a large caseload in state and federal courts, including bankruptcy court

• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and argue motions

• Participate in hearings, depositions, and court conferences across New York

• Address legal issues arising during the discovery process

• Oversee litigation from inception through resolution or judgment

• Collaborate with clients to provide updates, guidance, and strategic direction

• Participate in appellate litigation as needed

• Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, Bankruptcy Code)

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, court personnel, and industry professionals

Requirements:

• Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar

• Eligibility for admission or current admission to the New York federal district and bankruptcy courts

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage foreclosure and collection litigation

• Demonstrated ability to manage a substantial volume of matters independently

• Appellate and regulatory compliance experience is considered an asset

• Availability for regular court appearances and occasional statewide travel

• Strong judgment, initiative, and communication skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York (required)

• Admission to additional state bars is advantageous

Skills:

• Deep knowledge of foreclosure law, creditors’ rights, and collection procedures

• Litigation and courtroom experience

• Effective negotiation and conflict resolution abilities

• Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills

• The capacity to work independently and manage deadlines

• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume practice environment

• Strategic thinking with attention to client service
