Job Overview:
A national law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Attorney to join its expanding team in the Richmond, VA area. This position focuses on managing personal injury litigation matters across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in personal injury law and be prepared to handle all phases of litigation, including trial preparation and courtroom representation.

Duties:
Manage a caseload of personal injury litigation, including:
Motor vehicle accidents
Premises liability
Medical malpractice
Wrongful death
Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
Conduct depositions and represent clients in court proceedings
Collaborate with legal support staff on trial preparation including evidence handling and witness preparation
Perform legal research and draft briefs, memoranda, and legal opinions
Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding case updates and expectations
Negotiate settlements that reflect clients' best interests
Ensure filings and proceedings comply with court rules in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
Requirements:
2–3 years of personal injury litigation experience
Strong litigation background with experience in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently
Demonstrated commitment to client service and ethical practice
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Licensure in Maryland and/or Washington, D.C. is a plus
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of personal injury and tort law
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in legal research and litigation software
Strong negotiation and case strategy abilities
Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities
Spanish fluency preferred but not required
