Civil Litigation Attorney
A Portland-based law firm is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Civil Litigation Associate to join its legal team. This position focuses on handling a wide range of civil litigation matters from start to resolution. The role requires both autonomy and collaboration, with responsibilities ranging from courtroom advocacy to discovery management and client advisement. This is a valuable opportunity for a litigation attorney eager to grow in a fast-paced and collegial law firm environment.
Independently manage assigned civil litigation cases through all phases, from initiation to final resolution
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence
Supervise discovery tasks such as interrogatories, document requests, and depositions
Represent clients at court appearances, hearings (both in-person and virtual), and mediations
Maintain direct and ongoing communication with clients regarding case progress and strategy
Provide internal and client-facing training or informational sessions on legal procedures and litigation updates
2-5 years of litigation experience within the jurisdiction
Active license to practice law in the State of California or willingness to obtain admission
Admittance to all Federal District Courts in California (or ability to secure admission)
Good standing with the California Bar
Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and apply legal principles to case facts
Comfortable managing multiple legal matters simultaneously under limited supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
State Bar of California license (active and in good standing)
Federal District Court admissions preferred
Proficiency in legal research tools and litigation management software
High level of organization and attention to detail
Effective oral advocacy and negotiation abilities
Capable of navigating both collaborative and independent work settings
Skilled in client interaction, with an emphasis on responsiveness and clear communication
