Duties

  • Evaluate potential claims and defenses, developing tailored litigation strategies.
  • Maintain case files, monitor deadlines, and ensure procedural compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Prepare briefs and submissions for state and federal courts.
  • Analyze legal issues to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Serve as a primary client contact, offering updates and guidance.
  • Participate in client meetings, strategy sessions, and settlement discussions.
  • Represent clients at hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations.
  • Negotiate discovery disputes and settlement terms with opposing counsel.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex matters.
  • Coordinate with paralegals and support staff for efficient case handling.
  • Engage in firm meetings, trainings, and practice development.
  • Stay informed on changes in civil procedure and case law.
  • Contribute to the firm's professional culture and ethical standards.
  • Assist in developing practice resources or thought leadership content.

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years of experience in litigation (judicial clerkship included).
  • VA Bar License.
  • Strong legal writing, analysis, and drafting skills.
  • Willingness to travel to different jurisdictions in Northern Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Jury trial and other court experience.
  • Prior judicial clerkship experience.
  • Experience in arbitrations.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active Virginia Bar License.

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal writing and document preparation.
