Job Overview:

The law firm is seeking an Entry Level Patent Agent with a background in chemistry or a relevant physical sciences field to join their team in Oakland, CA. Duties:

• Conduct prior art searches and analysis.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Assist in patent prosecution, including drafting correspondence with clients and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Collaborate with attorneys on patent-related matters.
• Maintain accurate records and files related to patent applications.

Requirements:

• Eligible to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in chemistry, or other relevant physical sciences field; or pertinent industry experience.
• 0-3 years of patent attorney or agent experience.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Interest in patent prosecution.

Education:

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in chemistry, or other relevant physical sciences field.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice before the USPTO is a plus.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in chemistry, or other relevant physical sciences field.
• Prior patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting is a plus.
