Job Overview:
A law firm located in Baltimore, MD is seeking a litigation associate with demonstrated experience in insurance defense. This role provides the opportunity to work on a broad range of litigation matters including personal injury, property damage, products liability, and transportation-related claims. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong writing skills, and have prior experience managing complex case files. The position allows for a hybrid schedule following an initial in-office onboarding period.

Duties:

• Manage a full litigation caseload from inception through resolution

• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and legal memoranda

• Conduct legal research and analyze case law and statutes

• Represent clients at depositions, hearings, and pre-trial conferences

• Maintain consistent and professional client communication

• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure case progress

• Adhere to deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively

Requirements:

• Admission to the Maryland Bar

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience with a focus on insurance defense

• Eligibility to practice in additional jurisdictions such as DC, VA, or PA is a plus

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Self-directed with a high level of initiative and organization

• Proficient in handling general liability, personal injury, and construction-related claims

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in Maryland (required)

• Admission in other Mid-Atlantic jurisdictions (preferred)

Skills:

• Legal writing and analytical skills

• Courtroom and deposition experience

• Ability to interpret complex legal documents and case law

• Proficiency in legal research tools and paperless office environments

• Time management and multitasking under pressure

Job Location:

• Baltimore, MD

• Hybrid schedule with required in-office presence 3 days per week post-training

• Full-time in-office attendance is required during the training period (90–180 days)
