Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking a dedicated Finance and Restructuring Litigation Associate to join its Native American law practice. This position offers the opportunity to represent tribes, tribal entities, and tribal members on complex legal issues, including tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination. The role also includes the chance to handle commercial and construction litigation matters. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience or a strong interest in Federal Indian Law and litigation.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Represent clients in Native American law matters, including tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination.
  • Manage and litigate complex commercial and construction disputes.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic guidance on legal issues.
  • Appear for depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Manage cases from start to finish, including settlement negotiations and pre-litigation planning.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop and execute litigation strategies.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, providing proactive legal counsel.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in litigation, ideally in Federal Indian Law or related fields.
  • Strong experience in litigation and administrative law.
  • Experience with trial preparation, depositions, hearings, and oral arguments is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective client and team collaboration.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Excellent litigation and trial skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Indian Law or a strong interest in the area.
  • Exceptional legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
